Instagram Still Finds Buyers. Your Website Has to Close Them.

Meta moved checkout off Instagram. In September 2026, a Reel click lands on your site. If that page is slow or generic, you paid for a bounce.

Instagram is still where Indian D2C brands get discovered. What changed is where the sale happens.

Meta’s shops now send checkout to your website. Product tags, ads, and Reels do not finish the order inside the app. The click is yours. The conversion is also yours.

That is why a pretty grid is not enough in September 2026. The product page has to load on a phone, match the Reel the person just watched, and let them enquire or pay without hunting.

What actually happens after the tap Someone is watching a 15-second clip. They tap the tag. They do not land on your brand story. They land on a SKU. If that URL is a homepage, a popup, or a 6-second spinner, they leave. You still paid for the impression.

Fix the path, not the colour palette 1. Deep-link ads and tags to the product, not the home hero. 2. Put price, size, and a buy or WhatsApp action above the fold on mobile. 3. Keep COD if that is how you sell - but show what happens after they order. 4. Save the enquiry. DMs disappear. A form or order log does not.

Why this is a website job You can keep running Meta. You cannot keep blaming Meta when the landing page is a template. Industry coverage through 2026 is consistent: discovery stays social, purchase lives on the brand site. Ecommerce and retail pages we ship start from that split.

If your Reels already get traffic, book a call with one URL that currently dies. We will say whether you need a rebuild, a tighter PDP, or a cleaner enquire path.
